Information and communications technology (ICT) industry professionals pursuing excellence within the industry should consider becoming a BICSI RCDD®. Those awarded with the RCDD designation have demonstrated their knowledge in the design, implementation and integration of information technology systems and related infrastructure.

BICSI telecommunications distribution design courses serve as a career path for those seeking advanced knowledge in this area. Several design courses are recommended for candidates preparing to take the RCDD examination.

The examination is drawn from BICSI’s Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM). Computer-based testing is the primary examination administration method through Pearson VUE.

The RCDD examination is comprised of 100 multiple-choice questions. You are allotted 2-1/2 hours to complete the exam. The exam is designed to test your knowledge and ability to solve problems in situations by applying the acquired knowledge (knowledge- and application-based questions).

You must achieve a minimum of 70 percent on the exam to pass.

Exam Preparation

The exam is drawn from BICSI’s TDMM 13th edition. Approximately 80 percent of the questions are based on content from the TDMM core chapters.

DD101: Foundations of Telecommunications Distribution Design (BICSI CONNECT)

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to voice/data cabling systems, as well as, provide them with a clear understanding of the foundational knowledge required to pursue a career as a Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD). This course will also serve as the prerequisite for DD102: Designing Telecommunications Distribution Systems.

To earn continuing education credits (CECs) for this course, you must pass a 50-question online end of course assessment, which is included in the course fee. Once you have registered, you have 90 days to access the course and pass the online assessment. You will not be allowed to retake the end of course assessment. The course assessment will be timed at one hour and you will not be allotted extra time. You must receive a grade of 75% or higher on the final exam to receive your certificate and to satisfy the prerequisite requirement for more advanced courses.

DD102: Designing Telecommunications Distribution Systems (5 days)

Learn how to design distribution systems in this comprehensive course.
DD102 is an intensive hands-on course focused on the design of structured cabling systems. You will design telecommunications spaces, as well as horizontal and backbone distribution systems. Effective learning strategies include case study review and structured application exercises using modernized blueprints with solutions based on real-world conditions.

DD102 has been completely revamped to maximize your take-away from the class, as well as your success on the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD®) exam. Now offering hands-on activities from day one, this knowledge-intensive course instructs you in real-world tasks, preparing you for life outside of the classroom. Take-home assignments augment your learning, allowing you to prepare questions for the classroom.
